Welcome to our second December newsletter...I hope you are having a relaxing holiday season and that your Christmas will be Merry! Even with an inadequate construction economy, we have so much to be thankful for in America. Surely things will pick up next year! As you know, so much in business depends on confidence, so I hope Congress will do whatever is necessary to get us back to building America again.
In keeping with our growth strategy, and to continue providing you with the information you need to be successful, we are pleased to announce the roll-out of our latest initiative, LiDAR News Online. Like our previous launch of Machine Control Online, we have partnered with an industry expert, this time Gene Roe. Gene's an LS and PE, and has a PhD in Systems Engineering. He's been in our industry for more than 40 years, ran a 50-person consulting firm, has a successful LiDAR blog, and brings a wealth of knowledge about LiDAR.
You might wonder about our use of the acronym for Light Detection And Ranging. Many think of LiDAR as something in a plane, but really, the technology is the same whether in the air or on the ground. It even encompasses close-range scanning. Gene has assembled an expert team of contributing writers, and we hope that you will find much that's useful. In addition to the topics mentioned above, we aim to cover mobile scanning, forensics, heritage scanning, and more.
You can read more about our latest venture HERE. Our online company, Spatial Media, now has six different websites, each addressing a specific aspect of the geospatial industry. From surveying to GIS to LBS to the Symbian mobile operating system to machine control, and now, to LiDAR, we've got you covered! Gene's first newsletter will arrive in your Inbox tomorrow, and thereafter bi-weekly.
As always, please don't hesitate to contact me if you've got a project or story you'd like to share. Thanks for your support.
Until next time,
Marc Cheves, LS
