feature Hello Amerisurv user... Of course, after enduring the winters, Alaska surveyors probably welcome warmer temperatures, but for the rest of us in the lower 48, hot and sticky conditions in the summer often have us longing for cooler, drier weather. In the July issue, we have a great story about how the Alaska Society of Professional Land Surveyors teamed with Ice Alaska to create a full-scale replica of the famous Stonehenge...in ice!
Also of particular note in the new issue is an article about the state of the contruction industry in our country. Written by a New York City attorney who specializes in construction issues, the article states the obvious, but also provides five steps that could be taken. Of course, land development and construction provides the bulk of work for surveyors, so I think the author is saying something worth listening to. Infrastructure work anyone?
Lot's of other great content in the new issue, including a cool digital pen that just might change the way you work. Scroll down to see the July line-up. As always, please don't hesitate to contact me if you've got a project or story you'd like to share.
Thanks for your support.
Until next time,
Marc Cheves, LS

Surveyors Report: Doing the Right Thing
Everyone faces this dilemma: "Will I do the right thing, even if it will cost me something, or do the wrong thing, because it's easier or others do it?" When I was a teenager, my mom would ask, "If your friends jumped off a bridge, would you?" Of course it depended on how ...

Day, night, week-end, holiday, you name it... Amerisurv is updated 24/7 with the latest news and announcements affecting today's Land Surveying professional. Below are some of the latest items of interest.

feature Machine Control - Not wanting to be the messenger that gets killed, I have been reluctant to promote machine control. Why? Because it, like robotics and other technology, will eventually affect the number of surveyors needed to build America. Even so, it's inevitable. And even though our workforce numbers will change, there's still going to be a great need for surveyors who are skilled in digital everything. Scroll up to read my editorial about what I think about machine control.
