The Economy... Things seem to be picking up. The Associated Builders and Contractors, representing 25,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms with two million employees, follows the construction economy very closely, and for the first time since 2008, is seeing an increase in construction employment, albeit non-residential. As you already know, surveyors are intimately involved with construction, so this is good news indeed!
Our latest issue will mail this week, and as usual, it's full of great content. In particular, I draw your attention to Gavin Schrock's exclusive article about Terrasat, the German company that invented VRS. RTNs are growing by leaps and bounds across the country, and they are a marvelous productivity booster. One of the new articles in this issue details Earl Dudley's experiences with its regional RTN.
The new issue also has Ashtech's "return" to the market, an article by Missouri surveyor (and former 82 Charlie) Chris Wickern about the center of section, and a ProFile of Missouri Renaissance Man Dick Elgin. And that's not all! You can scroll down to see the line-up.
As always, please don't hesitate to contact me if you've got a project or story you'd like to share.
Thanks for your support.
Until next time,
Marc Cheves, LS
Editor

The Birthplace of VRS
Today, Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) networks are becoming commonplace. There is at least a small RTK network (or multiple RTK networks) in every state of the U.S., some with full statewide coverage. Internationally, many countries boast nationwide networks. All have been developed within a whirlwind decade since the introduction of the ....
