Senior Environmental Scientist to Work with Natural Gas Clients

Lancaster, Pa. – RETTEW, an Engineering News-Record top 500 design firm providing engineering, transportation, environmental consulting, planning and surveying services, recently welcomed Thomas J. Stich as a senior environmental scientist.

“Tom’s technical expertise combined with his passion to provide stellar service delivery will serve our clients very well,” said Mark Lauriello, PE, president, RETTEW. “I’m glad to have Tom on board and welcome him to RETTEW.”

As a senior environmental scientist, Stich works primarily with RETTEW’s clients involved in natural gas exploration and drilling in the Marcellus Shale play. He works with clients to secure the appropriate environmental permits and clearances, including Chapter 105 Section 404 permits as part of Pennsylvania’s Clean Water Act, from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and other governmental and quasi-governmental agencies. In addition to wetland identification and delineation, environmental site assessments, and threatened and endangered species surveys, he also provides overall project management and oversight.

Stich’s 13 years of experience involves his working for both private- and public-sector clients on projects located throughout the mid-Atlantic region. He has provided comprehensive environmental services on multi-million dollar projects and has conducted both tidal and nontidal wetland delineations in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Additionally, he has been responsible for the design, implementation, construction oversight and monitoring of several wetlands mitigation sites. Stich has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Mansfield University and a master’s degree in applied ecology and conservation biology from Frostburg State University. He resides in York County, Pa.
