Carnahan Elected to Merrick Board of Directors Print E-mail

Aurora, CO – January 30, 2010 – Douglas E. Carnahan, Jr. has been elected to Merrick & Company’s board of directors, it was announced by Ralph W. Christie, PE, chair and chief executive officer.  Carnahan  has been with the firm for the past seven years, and upon retiring in late 2009, was elected to the board to continue his contribution to the firm.

“We’re pleased to have Doug continue supporting Merrick.  He’s had a significant influence on our employee-owned company during his tenure and the continuity of his input into our strategic plans will help to support our continued growth,” said Christie.

Carnahan has been located in the firm’s Oak Ridge office for the past two years, where he was program manager on a major design project for the Department of Energy at the Y-12 National Security Complex , Tennessee.  Prior to that he was chief operating officer for Merrick from 2005 until 2008. During his tenure at Merrick, he’s also been involved in projects over $100 million in size at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory, the Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the Argonne National Laboratory.  Prior to joining Merrick, Carnahan served as a senior vice president for Washington Group International and Raytheon Engineers & Constructors.  He’s a graduate of Louisiana Tech University.
