Prescott Plaza Redevelopment Project in Kansas City, Kansas, Wins ACEC Award Print E-mail
Written by BHC RHODES
Friday, 13 November 2009

BHC RHODES is proud to be recognized as part of the team receiving the American Council of Engineering Companies of Kansas 2009 Public Improvement Award for their efforts on the Prescott Plaza Redevelopment Project in Kansas City, KS. An awards luncheon will be held on December 3 at the Salina Bicentennial Center for the recipients.

The project took nearly five years of collaborative effort among Fishman & Company/ARO Real Estate, Anderson MacAdam Architects, Inc., George J. Shaw Construction Co., J.M. Fahey Construction Co., Miller-Stauch Construction Co. and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS, with BHC RHODES providing civil engineering, surveying and construction observation for the project. The 17-acre site is adjacent to I-70 on 18th Street Expressway, and boasts 72,000 square feet of retail development. Benefits of this redevelopment project include: providing economic opportunities and future tax support, creating retail jobs, local shopping option for the community that includes a new Chas Ball Sunfresh Market (the first new grocery store in KCK since the late 70s), and improved community safety.  The new development also claimed a 2009 Capstone Award for Community Impact.
