Send us your tired, your worn, your broken down old data collectors…
Maysville, Ky., U.S.A. (June 12, 2009) – Data collectors of all different makes, styles and vintage have been piling up at the Carlson Software distribution center here ever since the introduction of Carlson’s popular new Surveyor and Surveyor+ data collectors last September.
The opportunity to trade in an out-of-date data collector and move up to the Surveyor+, while saving from $500 up to $1500, was offered by Carlson Software when they first introduced the fast, incredibly durable, and powerful data collector. The program has proved so popular, that Carlson has extended it until September 30 of 2009.
“Some of the trade-ins are definitely from the Stone Age of data collectors,” says Bob Bailey, director of Sales for Carlson Software. “Many actually came to us in pieces – we can only imagine the abuse these units must have taken.”
But, what to do with all those trade-ins? In order to be environmentally correct, Carlson is working with the SIMS Recycling Solutions branch in Nashville, Tenn., to make sure that the units’ parts are either recycled or disposed of properly. SIMS Recycling Solutions is a world-renowned electrical and electronics recovery and recycling company.
“The Surveyor+ is designed to hold up to even uncommon abuse,” notes Bailey. “Both versions of the handheld computer are encased in magnesium housing. In essence, they come in a ‘full metal jacket,’ so that they can withstand every day accidental abuse as well as the unexpected happenings so they won’t end up like some of the data collectors we’re getting as trade-ins.”
Weighing just two pounds, and with an IP67 water and dust-resistant Ingress rating, the Carlson Surveyor line offers up to 1 gigabyte of memory with the option to expand. Designed with surveyors in mind, the Surveyor+ keyboard is sized to work with even the largest or gloved hands, while the backlit control keys provide ease and convenience. They are light and easy to grip, being thinner front to back than other data collectors when resting on a table top. The computer runs on Windows Mobile 6 and Carlson SurvCE can be included.
