Woman-Owned Business Enterprise to Tap into Growing Market
Richmond, Va. – Terradon Corporation, a woman-owned engineering, surveying, and land planning firm headquartered in Charleston, West Virginia, today announced its expansion of operations to Richmond.
Recently Terradon, a Woman Owned Business Enterprise (WBE), as certified by the National Women Business Owners Corporation, was further certified as a SWaM (Small, Women and Minority Owned) firm by the Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise.
Virginia L. King, owner & chief executive officer, explained the reason for the expansion. “When you look at locating to a new market, you look at several factors. Chief among them are location and the ability to meet the needs of that market,” she said. “As we prepare to celebrate our 20th anniversary, we believe the Richmond market is ripe for the delivery of quality services in a timely manner,” she added.
King is an accomplished business owner in a variety of disciplines including engineering, site development and construction. Ms. King’s collective operations employ more than 350 people in Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. She and her husband, Art King, shared the West Virginia Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” award in 1999. She remains active in community service, providing leadership and guidance to a number of public and community service organizations.
Terradon Corporation’s operations in Richmond are headquartered in the historic Markel Building. Scott Borowski, manager of the Richmond office, explained, “We are excited to be a part of the ongoing development of Richmond and the surrounding region.
