Brookline District Courthouse Project Receives Award for Excellence Print E-mail
Written by Dewberry
Monday, 28 April 2008

Boston, MA – April 28, 2008 - Dewberry’s Brookline District Courthouse Renovation project received a Division of Capital Asset Management (DCAM) Award for Excellence in Construction on April 17, 2008. As the agency responsible for major public building construction and real estate projects for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, DCAM is committed to providing outstanding service to the citizens of the Commonwealth. The DCAM Awards for Excellence Program honors this commitment and recognizes projects which achieve the highest professional standards.

The Brookline District Courthouse is a two-story, 16,000-square-foot facility above an occupied basement that was constructed in 1941. The building supports two courtrooms and many of the associated ancillary activities. By today’s standards, it suffered for lack of central air conditioning, accessibility by the handicapped and life safety egress systems. Dewberry designed the installations for: an elevator; ADA-accessible toilet facilities; a new fire alarm system and emergency egress ramp and lighting; and ventilation fans and two central air conditioning systems for the first and second levels.

Governor Deval Patrick presented the award at the Massachusetts State House where a board depicting the project is on display.

Project team members Alan Silbovitz, PE, Kevin O’Toole, and Jonathan Warburg, FAIA are congratulated by Governor Deval Patrick.
