Spalding DeDecker Associates, Inc. Kimberly McDaniel, PE, PTOE chosen as one of the National Society of Professional Engineers top ten candidates for “New Faces of Engineering” program.

Detroit, MI (February 19, 2008) - - Spalding DeDecker Associates, Inc. (SDA), a regional civil engineering and surveying firm, announces that Kimberly McDaniel, PE, PTOE was chosen as one of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) top ten candidates for “New Faces of Engineering” program.

February 18-22 is National Engineers Week.  During this week, engineers are recognized for their accomplishments.  The “New Faces of Engineering” program recognizes young engineers for their unique and interesting work and their impact on society.  These young engineers are typically two to five years out of college.  NSPE nominated ten candidates from their society for this award.  NSPE is one of many engineering societies that sponsor Engineers Week.

Kimberly D. McDaniel, PE, PTOE, is a Traffic Project Engineer with Spalding DeDecker Associates, a consulting firm in southeast Michigan. McDaniel received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Louisiana Tech University in 2003 and an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Wayne State University in 2005.  In a professional capacity, McDaniel is the editor of the MichiganITE, the newsletter for the Michigan Section of the Institute for Transportation Engineers. McDaniel also volunteers with many non-profit groups, including mentoring a young girl through Big Brothers/Big Sisters.  McDaniel is a Director on the Louisiana Tech University Engineering & Science Foundation Board, serving as an advisor to the dean on matters including curriculum and finance. McDaniel is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Michigan Section of the Institute for Transportation Engineers, and the Louisiana Engineering Society.

“As an Employee/Owner of SDA, Ms. McDaniel exhibits the full engagement, including efforts outside her daily work, that demonstrates a commitment to our profession and society as a whole,” said David A. Lakin, PE, President of SDA.
