Eagle Point Introduces Next Generation Field Survey Software
Written by Eagle Point
Wednesday, 13 February 2008
Dubuque, Iowa – 2/13/2008 - Eagle Point Software Corporation today announced the introduction of its revolutionary SMI 2008 field survey software. Data Collection is the first product to be released under the SMI 2008 product line.
Built to run on most devices running Windows Mobile and Windows CE, SMI 2008 allows land surveyors to operate it in whichever way they feel comfortable, whether it be from the device keyboard or the touch screen.
Although the user interface has been overhauled and hundreds of new features have been added, the original keyboard overlays from previous SMI versions remain intact along with more than 90% of the keystrokes surveyors are accustomed to using, allowing productivity to be realized within minutes.
"One of our key objectives with SMI 2008 was to allow our current clients to easily migrate to our next generation software even though the interface and feature set was modernized," said Brad Heil, Director of Product Development. "In addition, we wanted the software to become even more efficient, offering access to the commands via 2 keystrokes or less, while also accommodating those who want finger presses to activate most buttons and input fields by increasing the on-screen tapping areas."
SMI 2008 also introduces an advanced pattern recognition and prediction engine (SmartNote™) that simply requires depressing the enter key to confirm the note. SmartNote handles interruptions and notes out of sequence, and can be adapted for the suffix coding required by most CAD desktop survey software, including Eagle Point™, Civil 3D®, GEOPAK®, InRoads® and Carlson®. When in full operation, SmartNote drastically reduces operator keystrokes.
Along with the introduction of SMI 2008, Eagle Point is proud to once again provide free technical support for registered users of the current SMI version. Support is available from experienced surveyors and engineers via a toll-free phone number or email.
Pricing and Availability
SMI Data Collection 2008 is priced at $1200 per license and includes real-time collection staking for all total stations, including robotic instruments. GPS support can be added for a total of $2200 per license. It is currently available for sale with shipping to begin in March 2008. For more information, visit http://www.eaglepoint.com/smi2008pre.
