Orange County Selects Bowyer-Singleton & Associates for Roadway Improvement Design
Written by Bowyer-Singleton
Tuesday, 22 January 2008
Orlando, Fla.– Orange County has selected Bowyer-Singleton & Associates (BSA), a full-service civil engineering firm based in downtown Orlando, for an engineering design project on Valencia College Lane.
Serving as the main campus entrance to Valencia Community College East Campus, the two-lane stretch of road from Goldenrod Road to Econlockhatchee Trail is scheduled for widening and other improvements including signals and traffic signing. In addition to designing a four-lane divided urban roadway with on-road bicycle lanes, sidewalks, drainage and stormwater ponds, landscaping and street lighting, Bowyer-Singleton will complete the plans for maintaining traffic flow and providing access to adjacent properties during construction.
The project’s initial Roadway Conceptual Analysis highlighted the growing need for a safe and efficient transportation infrastructure because of the recent growth in East Orange County.
“While the design for Valencia College Lane is a relatively standard piece of roadway, this project stands to greatly benefit more than 16,000 residents in the area and students attending the campus,” said Kevin Knudsen, P.E., project manager for Bowyer-Singleton’s design team.
Already in the fourth phase of the county’s overall roadway improvement process, the Valencia College Lane project will begin the right-of-way acquisition and construction phases after Bowyer-Singleton completes the final design in June 2009.
