Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging Announces Free Version of ERDAS Field Guide™
Written by Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging
Tuesday, 27 November 2007
Norcross, Georgia, USA — Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging announces a free low-resolution version of the ERDAS Field Guide™, downloadable from the company’s website. This comprehensive tool has been used throughout the world as a textbook, lab manual and training guide for ERDAS IMAGINE® since 1990.
The ERDAS Field Guide provides background information on reasons to use GIS and image processing and explains how the software manipulates data. This book meets the needs of those new to geoprocessing as well as savvy users in this industry for years. For the novice, the ERDAS Field Guide provides a brief history of the industry, an extensive glossary of terms and notes about applications for the different processes described. For the experienced user, the ERDAS Field Guide includes the formulas and algorithms used in the ERDAS IMAGINE code.
“We are excited to offer the low-resolution version of the ERDAS Field Guide as a free download,” said Bruce Chaplin, Senior Vice President, Product Development, Leica Geosystems Geospatial Imaging. “The strong acceptance and broad usage of the ERDAS Field Guide qualifies this tool as an industry standard for instructing others in the foremost remote sensing solution.”
The low-resolution web-downloadable version is the most up-to-date edition available, and will continue to be updated regularly. After logging onto Leica Geosystems’ support site, the ERDAS Field Guide may be downloaded (http://www.gi.leica-geosystems.com/LGISub2x514x0.aspx). Alternatively, the high-resolution version of the ERDAS Field Guide is available on the ERDAS IMAGINE installation CD or may be purchased from On Demand Manuals (http://www.ondemandmanuals.com/), printed and bound.
