Professional Engineering Associates, Inc. (PEA) headquartered in Troy, Michigan has named James P. Butler, PE as President effective October 24, 2007. Mr. Butler takes the rein of this well-respected Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm, with three offices located in Howell and Troy, Michigan and Fort Myers, Florida, as PEA celebrates 60 years in business. Mr. Butler served as Vice President for the past five years and a shareholder for the past eight.
Chairman of the Board, Wendy E. Graham, PE also announced that a transition plan is being finalized that will result in a balanced, non-majority ownership structure in which no shareholder will retain a majority interest. At the completion of the transition, ownership will rest with a group of core shareholders which will include James P. Butler, PE, President, John A. Harvey, PE, Vice President/Branch Offices, and David N. Hunter, PE, Vice President of Engineering. This diversified shareholder approach is a first for PEA.
Beyond their responsibilities to PEA these gentlemen also have a firm commitment for the betterment of the community. Mr. Butler sits on the Oxford Zoning Board of Appeals for the past 5 years, Mr. Harvey is serving his 2nd term on the Board of Directors for the Howell Chamber of Commerce, and has been active in the Michigan Scholars program since 2005, and Mr. Hunter is President of the Oakland Chapter of MSPE and an active member since 1997.
The new Leadership Group is enthusiastically looking toward the future working together with their highly qualified team of professionals.
