Leica Geosystems Introduces New-Generation GPS Reference Station Receivers Print E-mail
Written by Leica Geosystems
Thursday, 19 August 2004

August 19, 2004 - Leica Geosystems has introduced a new series of accurate, powerful and reliable GPS reference station receivers based on its next-generation System 1200 technology.

The GRX1200 and GRX1200Pro incorporate Leica’s exclusive 12 L1 + 12 L2 SmartTrack GPS measurement engine, which provides unsurpassed performance under all conditions.   The SmartTrack receiver acquires all visible satellites within seconds, provides clean high-accuracy code and phase measurements with excellent signal-to-noise ratios, provides reliable tracking to low elevations, suppresses multipath and resists jamming.

The GRX1200 is designed to provide a basic base station with two power ports, four serial ports and an antenna port.  The GRX1200Pro is intended for more demanding applications, with an Ethernet port for easy LAN/WAN connectivity, an external frequency input port for an external oscillator, a pulse-per-second output port and an event input port.

The new reference station receivers are designed to operate around the clock unattended in remote, hostile environments.  The units are built with a rugged magnesium housing and meet MIL-STD-810F specifications.  The low-power receivers operate through a wide temperature range and are fully waterproof, rain, sand and dustproof.

The GRX1200 and GRX1200Pro provide all the information needed for precise surveying with all types of RTK and GIS rovers.  RTK and DGPS data can be transmitted directly via radio or phone, or distributed from a control center by radio, phone or Internet.  RTCM, Leica proprietary, CMR and CMR+ formats are supported.

Leica Geosystems, with worldwide headquarters in Heerbrugg, Switzerland, develops, manufactures and markets systems for surveying, mapping and position determination.  The company has a turnover of almost 700 million Swiss francs and is listed on the Swiss Exchange.  Leica currently has 2,370 employees, with 600 located in the United States.  It is structured in six divisions:  Surveying and Engineering, GIS and Mapping, Metrology, Special Products, Consumer Products and New Businesses.  Along with the Swiss facilities, the company also has development and production subsidiaries in America and Asia.  Leica Geosystems has 20 wholly-owned sales subsidiaries worldwide and representation in more than 120 countries.
