SelfReliant Accelerates Time to Market for Server Product
BELLEVUE, Wash -GoAhead(R) Software, the leading provider of commercial off-the-shelf high availability (HA) software, today announced SiRF(R) Technology Holdings, Inc., a leading supplier of GPS semiconductor and software solutions, has selected GoAhead's SelfReliant(R) software to ensure that SiRF's Multimode-GPS location servers provide continuous, uninterrupted location services for end users.
SiRF's GPS technology delivers instant worldwide location information to mobile phones, car navigation and telematics systems, portable PCs, entertainment systems, hand-held devices and a wide-range of consumer products. SiRF's products are designed to deliver fast and accurate location information to make real-time navigation practical where conventional GPS often fails.
"As a market leader in GPS enabled location technology, SiRF is committed to improving time to market without compromising product quality," said Kanwar Chadha, founder and vice president of marketing for SiRF Technology. "Selecting GoAhead SelfReliant allows us to meet our technology and business goals. With SelfReliant we address our high availability requirement, accelerate our development schedule, and reduce development risk of our project."
Because consumers expect reliable wireless location services, SiRF selected GoAhead's high availability software to ensure that any failure in equipment or the network is transparent to the user. To achieve the required levels of uptime, SelfReliant is deployed on the SiRF Multimode-GPS location server, monitoring the hardware and operating system. If a failure is detected, SelfReliant automatically takes the appropriate steps to ensure consumers can continue using their location service without interruption. The recovery action can be as simple as an application re-start or as complex as a full failover to a redundant system.
"We are impressed with SiRF's understanding that real-time reliability is a key component for widespread adoption of GPS enabled location solutions in mainstream mobile devices," remarked Jim Ewel, president and CEO at GoAhead Software. "Their development team leveraged GoAhead SelfReliant for real-time reliability, and considerable engineering expertise to create a market leading location platform."
GoAhead SelfReliant
GoAhead(R) SelfReliant(R) is high availability, systems management and distributed messaging software for developers of highly reliable systems. SelfReliant manages redundant components for 99.999% or better availability -- or less than five minutes of downtime per year. The portfolio of products includes: Basic Availability Management to incorporate HA functionality in less than 30 minutes; Distributed Messaging for rapid inter- and intra-node communication; Embedded Systems Management for systems management building blocks; and SelfReliant Advanced Suite for the combination of high availability distributed messaging and embedded systems management or the highest levels of uptime. SelfReliant is a mature, proven product that features a modular architecture, high performance, easy-to-implement functionality and compliance with the Service Availability Forum's industry standard interface specifications.
