Alistair Maclenan, Founder of the specialist geo-focused marketing agency, Quarry One Eleven was recently selected to be the new Chairman of the UKGeoForum.
Alistair Maclenan
Taking over from Eric Zeevan of Canary Wharf Group plc, Alistair will Chair this unique umbrella organisation which is comprised of societies and associations that represent hundreds of thousands of professionals, academics and students of geography, mapping and geospatial information.

The recent meeting of the UKGeoForum was held at the central London offices of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and was followed by the Annual UKGeoForum Lecture which this year was delivered by the new Chief Executive of the Ordnance Survey; Nigel Clifford.

Nigel’s entertaining and thought-provoking presentation - during which he introduced himself and his background, explained the future direction of the Ordnance Survey and managed to weave in the wisdom of Jon Bon Jovi - was extremely well received by the packed auditorium.

Talking about his selection, Alistair Maclenan commented; “It is an exciting time to be taking over the reins at the UKGeoForum as ‘geospatial’ continues to become ever more important to more and more industries and organisations. My role will be to bring the member organisations together to focus on how to provide as much value as possible for their members.”

Member bodies of the UKGeoForum are;
• The Association of Geographic Information
• The British Association of Remote Sensing Companies
• The British Cartographic Society
• The Charles Close Society
• The Geographical Association
• The Hydrographic Society UK
• The Society of Cartographers
• The International Map Industry Association
• The Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society
• The Royal Geographical Society
• The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors
• The Royal Institute of Navigation
• The Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors
• The Survey Association
• The UK Committee for Cartography
