Garden State Land Surveyors Alliance to Host Professional Development Series & Vendor Expo April 26 Print E-mail

Middletown and Keyport, N.J. – The Garden State Land Surveyors Alliance Inc. (GSLSA), a not-for-profit organization formed in 1993 to support, inform and educate the land surveying professional and to promote the welfare of the industry in the state of New Jersey, will host ‘EXPO 2013’ on Friday, April 26 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Town & Country Inn, Route 35 North and Broadway, Keyport, N.J. The event is held annually and features seminars developed specifically to meet the continuing education requirements for land surveyors. 2013 marks the 20th anniversary of the GSLSA.

The list of seminars includes “Title Blocks and Seals for Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors,” “Understanding Preparation of the FEMA Elevation Certificate,” “Insurance Principles & Professional Practice Standards,” and “Organizing & Scheduling Property Survey Requests.” Instructors are Joseph A. Donato, Jr., PLS, PP; GSLSA Executive Director T. Craig Finnegan, PLS; and Peter Papa, ARM, AU, CIC. Seminar registration is $30 for each seminar for GSLSA members and $45 for non-members.

Exhibition space is also available to industry vendors who would like to showcase their products and services to a captive audience. Cost is $50. Space is limited, and prompt registration is recommended. Examples of past participants include suppliers of wooden stakes, survey markers and other surveying equipment, advertising products, GPS/GIS purveyors, surveyor insurance representatives, wetland delineation experts and aerial survey companies.

Information and registration forms are available on the GSLSA website, www.gslsa.com, or by calling T. Craig Finnegan at (732) 787-0318 days or (732) 856-2821 evenings and weekends. Forms can be sent with payment to GSLSA, 30 Dailey Street, South River, N.J., 08882-1418. Registration and payment must be received on or before April 19. After April 19, a late registration fee of $25 for each seminar will apply.

The GSLSA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the general welfare and interests of the land surveying profession. The GSLSA seeks ways and means to solve industry issues and to encourage fair practices in surveying, to disseminate information relative to new development, to foster an environment of unity and cooperation amongst surveyors, to educate surveyors about rights and obligations associated with the profession, and to support the creation and enhancement of wise and uniform legislation which may affect member businesses.
