... to Offer Cost Savings and Production Efficiency. Combining Intergraph's Z/I Imaging Digital Mapping Camera and Optech's Airborne Laser Terrain Mapper Speeds the Delivery of Photogrammetric Products
Intergraph (NASDAQ:INGR) Mapping and Geospatial Solutions and Optech Incorporated (www.optech.on.ca/) announced today that they have entered into a strategic alliance to jointly market and further develop airborne flight management and data acquisition systems. Under the terms of the agreement, both companies will sell a bundled solution consisting of Optech's Airborne Laser Terrain Mapper (ALTM) and Intergraph's Z/I Imaging Digital Mapping Camera (DMC(R)) at a special bundled price. Commercial photogrammetry, surveying, civil engineering and mapping firms can now realize cost savings when purchasing two of the best-in-breed data acquisition technologies. Also, users will gain the efficiencies of combined lidar and digital data collection to speed the generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) as input into orthophoto production.
Additionally, the two companies will cooperate on the development of flight systems that more tightly integrate lidar and large-format digital camera technology.
"With precision and reliability as the foundation of both the Z/I Imaging DMC and the Optech ALTM they are a perfect complement," said Don Carswell, President of Optech. "We're pleased to now provide our customers with a pricing advantage that matches the technology advantage that these products offer."
The Z/I Imaging DMC offers a rigid frame and fixed-pixel geometry that delivers high-quality imagery with proven ground resolution down to 1 1/2 inches per pixel for input into a completely digital workflow. Another design feature of the DMC is its ability to collect frame-based four-band multi-spectral imagery simultaneously with panchromatic data on a single pass of the flight line. This allows three separate end products - black and white, natural color and false-color infrared - to be generated from a single airborne data set.
Optech's ALTM offers area coverage rates as high as 100 kHz at 1,100 m altitude, producing elevation data of unparalleled density and unprecedented low cost per posting. ALTM is a complete end-to-end survey solution that includes Optech's ALTM-NAV Flight Management Software for survey planning, and REALM Survey Suite, Optech's fully integrated data processing software. Additional features include: adjustable scan frequency, scan angle, and pulse repetition frequency; variable beam divergence; roll compensation; laser intensity for highly detailed images; and full technical support anywhere in the world.
"Optech continues to advance airborne survey technology to offer accurate and efficient positional data collection," said Dr. Terry Keating, Chairman, Z/I Imaging. "Combining the precision and engineering quality delivered by the DMC with Optech's best-of-class lidar data collection systems gives customers more efficiency in their data collection, production and distribution workflows."
Optech is the world leader in the development, manufacture and support of airborne laser terrain mapping systems, and the company's Airborne Laser Terrain Mapper sets the global standard in airborne lidar survey systems. Optech offers client-driven solutions in airborne terrestrial mapping, hydrographic surveying, laser imaging, space-based atmospheric monitors and spaceborne landing/docking systems.
