Job Description

Interview Date: ASAP

Open To:                    ALL Nationalities

Job Overview:  A recognised leading provider of specialist services in gravity and magnetic geophysics to oil exploration companies, mining groups and government organizations worldwide seeks Field Electronics Engineers.

The Company offers a full range of services surrounding potential field geophysics to exploration companies. These services and products range from airborne surveys, data acquisition, processing, and integrated interpretation projects, including related software.

The Company has developed pioneering airborne acquisition techniques that are yielding benefits including lease decisions, seismic location determination, prospect generation and drilling locations. Through the acquisition of gravity gradient data, the analysis of gravity and magnetic data in combination with other conventional methods provides a more complete exploration solution as interpretational uncertainties are reduced through the analysis of additional rock properties.

This methodology helps explorationists gain a complete picture and a better understanding of subsurface geology, through a multi-disciplinary and integrated approach. They can demonstrate that significant geological information can be gleaned from gravity and magnetic data in both frontier and mature exploration areas and as such the need for airborne surveys has dramatically increased.

The Company are now in need of personnel to staff additional airborne survey to meet demand. Working as part of a team, alongside a project geophysicist your primary responsibility will be to operate, calibrate and when necessary; repair airborne acquisition instrumentation in the field.  You will also acquire and process airborne gravity gradient data as well as complementary data sets making sure that the quality and integrity of this data is acceptable for the next stage of processing. The acquisition and quality control (QC) is an important stage of the service, and you will work closely with the processing field geophysicists, informing the client of progress, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.

As such, this role is ideal for someone with a electronic background.  The Company is committed to providing support and mentoring where needed and you will be trained in all relevant technologies and work practices.

Job Responsibilities: Reporting to the Operations Support Manager your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

·            Undertake training in the Company’s techniques and software tools used.

·            Operate, calibrate and when necessary; repair airborne acquisition instrumentation in the field.

·            Undertake in-field quality control processing of gravity gradient, GPS, magnetometer and laser ranging data

·      Participate in the field acquisition projects as required including mobilization / demobilisation, survey planning, client liaison, and liaison with the aircraft operator.

·      Be an active part of a team developing equipment and methods for acquiring gravity gradient and complimentary data sets.

·      Maintain professional awareness of the external developments in scientific instrumentation and geophysics to identify where these may be used to benefit the business.

This is an ideal opportunity for an individual with some background in electronics, who is interested in developing their career and who likes the concept of rotational work offering long periods of times off (e.g. 3 weeks off each rotation). The role offers the opportunity to use innovative technologies, working with the world’s only independent service company specializing in both Gravity Gradient Imaging and conventional gravity and magnetics. There is great scope for travel and career progression.

Candidate Requirements:  The successful candidate will have:

·         A degree essential – preferably in Electronic, Geophysics, maths or engineering.

·        Electronic background – either academically or through work experience essential.

·        Experience in repairing and/or maintaining electronic equipment highly desirable.

·        Some knowledge of geophysics or a mathematic background advantageous.

·        Highly analytical with excellent problem solving abilities essential.

·        Data quality control experience highly advantageous.

·        Experience or knowledge of Potential field, Gravity & Magnetics, or gravity gradient data highly desirable.

·        Experience of GPS, Magnetometer and laser ranging highly desirable.

·        Previous experience working on a field crew highly advantageous.

·        Some experience of geophysical data acquisition, QC or processing highly advantageous.

·        Service orientated – strive to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.

·        Good report writing capabilities – attention to detail.

·        Good understanding of relative HSE issues and resolutions.

·        Team Player – must work effectively by actively contributing to the accomplishment of goals.

·        Excellent communication skills.

·        Positive attitude and problem solving approach.

·        Able to work under pressure to exacting deadlines and time scales.

·        Self-motivated, able to manage your task effectively and escalate problems that you cannot resolve.

·        Previous experience working in remote locations within various multicultural groups desirable.

·        Must be able to travel.
