GeoDigital International Corp., a US and Canadian based technology services company, is experiencing rapid growth and we are focused on developing exciting new airborne data capture technologies.
We are currently interested in finding the right person to fill the position of a full-time Lidar Data Acquisition Coordinator to join our field operations teams based in Lompoc CA, Victoria BC, Toronto or Ottawa ON.
Position Description
As a key member of the field operations team, while deployed in the field, you will be responsible for operating airborne remote sensors and/or cameras on a fixed wing aircraft or helicopter platform. Extensive travel will be required of you. You are not required to relocate for this position.
Set-up, operation, and break down of GPS ground station equipment
Installation and integration of airborne laser sensor equipment into survey aircraft
Operating airborne remote sensors and/or cameras to collect data
Field campaign pre-planning and organization
In-aircraft equipment alignment, calibration, and testing
Detailed flight line planning, including contingency planning for each survey flight Pilot and flight crew liaison
In-flight Lidar and GPS instrument operation
Timely briefing of data processors as to flight details and data collection
Preliminary QC for GPS and laser data. Downloading and shipping of data
Routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laser sensor and GPS equipment
Maintenance of airborne GPS receivers and other in-flight equipment
Record and update flight logs, field campaign logs and daily reports
Education and Experience
The right candidate will have a university degree or college diploma with technical training and experience with aerial survey technologies utilizing digital photography and Lidar
Minimum five 5 years exp with background in geodesy, GPS theory, conventional survey techniques, and a thorough working knowledge of related software and data capture systems.
Experience with various GIS, CAD and remote sensing software packages, as well as knowledge of terrain modeling, visualization and GPS analysis software, is essential.
Additional Skills
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Advanced problem solving and analytical skills.
Established background in providing remote sensing, airborne data acquisition, asset mapping, or GIS services for the utility industry would be considered an asset.
Position Details
This position can require extended stays of up to 30 days in the field. A significant amount of time will be spent during airborne operations in helicopters.
